International Summer Music School Pučišća and Jazz radionice Bol In 2026, the International Summer Music School Pučišća marks its 31st year of activity – three decades of dedicated work in music education, artistic creation, and cultural exchange. Over time, it has grown into one of the most recognizable educational, musical, and cultural-tourist projects in the country. During July and August, intensive ten-day workshops in classical, jazz, and popular music are held in Pučišća and Bol on the island of Brač. The program covers almost all instruments and is based on daily individual work and ensemble playing. The teaching team consists of twenty top professors from renowned music academies in Croatia and abroad. Participants come from all over the world – Europe, America, Asia, the Middle East, and Oceania – giving the school a truly international character. A special value of the school lies in combining education with public cultural activity: the results of the participants' work are presented in a series of concerts across Brač, from churches and galleries to squares and open spaces. Participants perform as soloists, members of chamber ensembles, orchestras, and jazz ensembles, thus becoming active contributors to the local cultural offer within events such as Pučiškog ljeta and Bolskog lita. Jazz radionice Bol – 25 years of creating freedom in sound In 2025, the Jazz radionice in Bol celebrate their 26th anniversary of continuous activity. Under the guidance of renowned musicians such as Nenad Jure Vrandečić and Saša Nestorović, and guest lecturers such as Judy Niemack, the workshops gather talented musicians who explore jazz as a space of freedom, improvisation, and intercultural dialogue. Performances within Bolskog lita and spontaneous jazz interventions in public spaces further enrich the island's summer soundscape. Music as a link between community and the world The project fosters a strong connection with the local community through collaboration with local musicians, klapas, brass bands, and cultural institutions. This presents and preserves regional cultural heritage while opening space for new artistic experiences and knowledge coming from all over the world. Participants' motivation is manifold: the desire for improvement, exchange of experiences, and public performances. An inspiring environment, far from everyday pressures, allows young musicians to create, learn, and grow in an atmosphere of togetherness, creativity, and professionalism. The project also brings together families, friends, guests, and tourists – creating a strong link between art, community, and tourism. Thus, the International Summer Music School achieves what lies at the core of modern cultural development: education, mobility, cultural exchange, and sustainable cultural tourism.
